GCSE Applied Business Studies
The GCSE Business Studies course runs for two years. During this time, the topics you will learn about are the types of business ownership, the management of people within a business, marketing, finance, production and any external influences.
It helps you to develop and use a wide range of enterprise skills, and personal learning and thinking skills during lessons.

In Applied Business Studies, you sit a finance exam at the end of the course, and produce 2 pieces of coursework. Your coursework or portfolios will be based on Cadburys, JJF and Manchester Airport.
Each portfolio is worth 33.3% and the finance exam is also worth 33.3%. This will then give you a double GCSE grade.

Your GCSE in Applied Business Studies will help if you want to go onto AS Business Studies, AS Applied Business or Accounting. It will also allow you going on to do a range of other A levels.
N.B. The Applied GCSE in Business Studies is changing for pupils who started the course in September 2009. More details to follow.
